Tanabataa, japanilaista tähtijuhlaa, vietetään seitsemännen kuun seitsemäntenä päivänä, yleensä 7.7., mutta alueesta riippuen myös kuukautta myöhemmin. Juhla pohjautuu kiinalaiseen taruun kahdesta taivaallisesta rakastavaisesta: kutojatar Orihime (Vega) ja lehmipaimen Hikoboshi (Altair) on erotettu Linnunradan molemmin puolin, ja he kohtaavat vain kerran vuodessa.

Tanabata-teetilaisuus pidetään Suomenlinnan teehuone Tokuyūanissa sunnuntaina 5.7. klo 15:15 (klo 14:25 HSL lautta Kauppatorilta).

Tilaisuudessa tarjotaan ohut tee (usucha) ja kauden makeinen. Tilaisuuden kesto on noin tunti.

Osallistumismaksu 20€ (10€ opiskelijoille ja Suomen Chado Urasenke Tankokai yhdistyksen jäsenille).

Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, is a Japanese celebration held on the 7th day of the 7th month (usually 7 July), though dates may vary by region. It originates from a Chinese legend about two celestial lovers: Orihime (the weaver star, Vega) and Hikoboshi (the cowherd star, Altair), who are separated by the Milky Way and allowed to meet only once a year on this night.

This year’s Tanabata tea gathering will take place at the tea room Tokuyūan on Suomenlinna island on Sunday 5th July at 15:15 (recommended HSL ferry at 14:25 from Helsinki Market Square).

Thin tea (usucha) and a seasonal sweet will be served. Duration is approximately 1h.

Participation fee: 20€ (or 10 € for students and members of the Tankokai Finland Association).

We recommend arriving early at the Market Square or taking an earlier ferry if possible. Suomenlinna island is especially beautiful in the summer – enjoy a peaceful stroll before or after the tea.
