Chado Urasenke Tankokai Finland Association is a cultural association promoting chadōn, ´the way of tea’, in Finland. The association is one of the chapters of the Urasenke school of chadō.
The association was founded in 1987 in Turku, and registered in 2000 in Helsinki. At the same time the association was granted status as part of the Chado Urasenke Tankokai association.
The association organises instruction of chadō in Suomenlinna at the tea room Tokuyūan and in Tampere. Other activities are also organised at the tea room: open days and open tea gatherings that change according to the season. One must register in order to participate in open tea gatherings. Events can be found in the event calendar.
Even though chadō is a traditional Japanese cultural tradition, it has also spread all over the world during the post-war period, and become localised. Finnish traditions, customs, moods, and utensils are delicately introduced into practising chadō in Finland.
Information on the activities of the association can be found on our website, on our Facebook page, and via our newsletter for members. Information on events at the tea room Tokuyūan can be found on the Facebook page of the tea room, and the Tampere study circle has an Instagram account.
