A beginner’s course is organised twice a year, spring and autumn, when possible. The beginner’s course is organised at the tea room Tokuyūan in Helsinki, and the basics of chadō are taught during the course: the role of the guest, movement in the tea room, and bonryaku, a simple way of preparing tea.
Information on the next beginner’s course will be updated on this web page once the schedule is confirmed. Due to the popularity of the course there is a waiting list, and you can register by emailing paasihteeri@urasenke.fi.
We recommend comfortable smart casual clothing that you can sit on your knees in (over-the-knee skirt or loosely-fitted trousers). Long hair must be worn up (hair should not touch the shoulders), and watches and jewellery must be left outside the tea room. No lipstick, heavy make-up, or scent. Clean, white socks are worn in the tea room.
